Garbage Can Bin
I am building garbage boxes. I built this one for my brownstone. They keep the rats at bay. I’m charging $350, and will make them to fit your cans

I bought one last week. I love it! It was a bigger model for my store and it makes everything much cleaner out front, like outdoor furnature. I gave him a deposit for materials and 3 days later he delivered it.
As for the price, I went online at home depot and priced the material he used. It was over $100 just to build it.
For 3 days labor and delivery, that works for me.
Has anyone bought one of these garbage bins? They seem a bit pricey.
Sure does have a bottom.
Does this container have a bottom? We’ve had rats tunneling under our sidewalks as a second access to under the stoop. They’re extremely persistent.
the nicest one that i have seen is on dekalb avenue between waverly and washington. i don’t like garbage cans per se, but see too many really ugly trash containers.
Sounds like you like the look of garbage cans. I just think they are an eyesore, and this way I can keep my trash away from my house 24/7 .You would think rats would want to hide in them but they don’t. As I said, my last one was untouched for 12 years.
To each his own.
Before I had this bin, I had a nice sturdy can with wheels and the rats chewed right through it. That’s one of the reasons I built it.
I don’t bring my cans to the curb, they already are there. The garbage men take them out and put them back.
Of course I have a seperate container for recyclables, you have to. I’m not worried about the rats getting in those ones. From what I know about rats they don’t recycle.
last question, so than you have to pull your cans out of the bin to put them by the curb? as opposed to just buying a study trashcan with wheels? what about all of the recycling as well? i have the blue containers for glass and paper and a big strong trashcan and haven’t seen any rats-thank GOD. i would think that the rats would hide in the bins and than YIKES, that would scare me even more.
Here’s the repost for the garbage bin.

Argh, photos still not posting!
We are really looking for someone to build one of these–can you upload it to a website like flickr or something, and put up a link to it in these comments so we can all see your work?
Thanks! And great initiative to start a very necessary business!
