We have a tangle of unused (and some in use?) cable wire hanging over our garden, probably a combination of Verizon and Time Warner. What’s the best way to get unused wiring removed? It’s tangled in one of our trees, hanging off our building, etc.

  1. Thanks for all the advice. What a mess! I’ll be getting on the horn to TW…. But for DIY Verizon, do the phone lines need to be capped anyway, even if they don’t have much juice?
Thanks again and good luck, everyone.

  2. I just called the general number at Time Warner (which I don’t have in front of me, but it’ll be on their website). Ask for Repair. They had someone out in two days (‘course, I explained about the wall coming out). But generally, TW wires easier to deal with.

The Verizon technician has now had a look. He can’t do anything, I have to wait for the Engineer to look, then come up with a plan for relocation, then send a team out to relocate. I’m not hopeful.

  3. >I call the police . Not the emergency number but their office. Tell th about possible danger and they always take care of it

You should be cited for wasting police time (assuming they did respond)!

What f*&(ing danger? Telephone lines are fine unless you suck on them (and even then you might get apleasant jolt)

  4. I’ve got a couple I’d like to cut back myself as well. Do cable/phone lines need to be capped where they’re cut? How much juice is in them?

  5. For Verizon I finally found a person who was helpful. His name is Fitzgerald Porsenna – 718-330-0065. It took a while but it finally got done.

Silvermax – who did you call for Time Warner?
