Browstone Columns
Hi, Attached is an image of our brownstone columns. As you can see they are in need of a bit of repair. Couple of questions. Is there anybody on here recommended to do this sort of work? What is the ballpark number for how much it will cost? Lastly…the middle image is the roof above…

Lastly…the middle image is the roof above the stoop and it appears there is some sort of green substance on there, possibly with a leak. Any advice on what to do with that?

Hi, I strongly recomment Anthony the Mason, 347-307-4725. He has done amazing brownstone restorations in Park Slope and Manhattan, ie, steps, chimneys, fireplaces, columns, moldings. He is very reasonably priced, creative and detailed. Please contact him. Good Luck!
You must find and fix the source of the water causing the damage before you repair the columns. It may be coming from above or it is even possible they built gutter leaders into the columns and those are now leaking. I can’t really see the green substance you mention but the little I can see looks like that moss/algae stuff.
