Seeking lenders/loan officers

I am currently attempting to do a cash-out refi of my current residence, a 2-family, to generate funds to purchase another 2-family. I’m also seeking a purchase money mortgage for the new property. I’ve been working with a local lender and the loan officer is awful when it comes to crunching numbers, and just generally doing what I thought was his job. Does anyone have a recommendation for a financing source? I think I have been dealing with an employee of a portfolio lender. I’m not terribly clear on what constitutes a “mortgage broker,” or if that’s what I’m seeking. I’m willing to apply directly to banks, portfolio lenders, use a broker, etc. Thanks for any suggestions, recommendations, words of wisdom, or even just words of solace. Financing is not fun! Many thanks!

Looks like you need to talk to a very experienced mortgage broker with lots of patients. Try calling David Dessner at Guardhill. 917-991-9307. He is the best.
Good luck.
Oh, where is this new property? Just interested in where people are buying.
I’ve got a good friend that was just promoted to head a group of mortgage bankers at Met Life. He’s got a lot of experience working in NY and has often been able to provide loans to people having a hard time getting them elsewhere:

Tell him I sent you and he’ll go out of his way to help you (not that he wouldn’t otherwise, but…).
