Fellow brownstoners:
As part of my renovation, it seems I need to install an additional gas meter to my house. Does anyone know how this works? What mistakes to avoid? The likely cost?

  1. National Grid only provides the actual meter and absolutely nothing more. Years ago you used to be able to get the meter bars for free, but now you have to buy them. All gas meters have been remote read for over fifteen years.

You (Arch/PE) need to file an ALT 2 / Schedule B showing the extra meter and piping. Once that is approved and the piping has been inspected the plumber can all for the meter to be installed.

  2. what mpoar said but it better be for a legal apt or they won’t install. Also get the automatic reader head so they can read the meter automatically.
