Is it OK to mix brass or copper with stainless steel? This guy who put in some speedies in my bathroom — without permission — used stainless steel to connect to brass pipes. As far as I know, this will corrode the plumbing. He says it’s impossible to find brass or copper speedies. Any plumbers…
Is it OK to mix brass or copper with stainless steel? This guy who put in some speedies in my bathroom — without permission — used stainless steel to connect to brass pipes. As far as I know, this will corrode the plumbing. He says it’s impossible to find brass or copper speedies. Any plumbers or others want to weigh in? Should we use some kind of rubber connection? What kind? Thank you.
Are you sure they aren’t chromed brass (with a plastic chromy handle)? Take a closer look then go to a hardware store and find a match. Sounds like he doesn’t know his metals. Even the chromed waste pipes are brass.

In a marine environment your concerns are valid, but in a normal bathroom setting the the two metals have enough galvanic compatibility as to not be a problem.
The connection to brass will be fine. 99% of the speedy valves sold are that cheap stainless steel looking chrome.
