  1. Good News Auburn Sun Contractors. There shop is in Greenpoint. Jake and Jeremy 917-674-5706. They are “salt of the earth” and fine craftsmen. I highly recommend them. It’s well worth taking a meeting with them. I promise.

  2. Hello joebear,
I know a licensed constractor and he is based in brooklyn his name is Dan he is very professional and does great work and very reasonable he can be reached at 718-919-7794 or 718 902-9213 I’m sure you will be happy with what he has to offer. Good Luck.

  3. I can highly recommend my contractor who worked with me on a large gut renovation that was complicated and long. I put in new floors, new plumbing, new electrical, new windows. He did built-ins, installed custom kitchen cabinets. He had a good and polite crew, was good at solving problems, and fair with add-ons. I have used him on a few smaller projects that were rental apartments. He was no less dedicated. And he’s in Brooklyn.

His number is 917-584-7286 and his name is Andy.

  4. Try Julio Bonete of Bonete Renovation at 718-781-9904. He’ll definitely return your call. He worked specifically on my Victorian gut renovation in Bergen County, NJ. He’s very detailed and his pricing is unbeatable. Best of Luck.
He has some pictures of his work including my project at http://www.boneterenovation.com

  5. I would recommend Heights Construction. They are very detail oriented, and care about their clients.
Call Abdul Feda @ 646 235-2767. It is a family owned company, and you feel like family by the time they are through!

  6. Hi JoeBear:

We are currently in the middle of a very similar size renovation: putting in kitchen, moving walls, adding bath. And so far we’ve been very happy with our GC, Thalal Beer, whom we found here. I was very impressed by how positively his former clients still felt about him (so many people end up souring on their GCs and their work as the years and wear goes on). When I checked out his work on their jobs, everything looked neat and square (granted I’m not an expert but the lousy framing and bumpy tile work of another GC was pretty hard to miss).

I can’t speak personally to Beer’s finish work as we’re still in the middle, but he’s been on the job all day every day, he’s been very receptive to working with me to find solutions as various things come up, his price was very competitive, and he’s just an all around lovely guy. He’ll be on my job until mid March. But you can reach him at 646-358-6118. If you want to talk more about it, you can reach me at clintonhillbrooklynapt[at]hotmail[dot]com.

    I really recommend him!
