Now that muni-meters are in affect on 7th Ave, here’s a couple of questions I hope some erudite person can answer. What is your responsibility when a muni-meter is broken and you want to park? Can you use the unexpired time on a muni-meter slip at another parking location?

  1. keep in mind that is a paper receit and has to be put exactly where they say…right around the inspection sticker if you just throw it on the dash anyplace ticket..if papers/gloves/sunglasses slide over it…ticket, and it will happen …you will put in your time request and amount and not get a paper receit?

  2. I have a commercial vehicle and have often had to use the non commercial meters to get a slip because they take credit/debit cards, commercial ones don’t. Never had a ticket for that and I get a lot of tickets. You could possibly use the defense that all the meters were broken on a block, they do keep records. Good luck with that.

If you see you’re getting a ticket don’t even argue with the asshole, run, don’t walk to the nearest meter and get a slip that will be close to the ticket time. You’ll beat it.

  3. Some blocks have only one muni-meter each side of the block, usually located in the center of the block. Are you suggesting that the law requires you must cross the street to find a working muni-meter? If this is so, what happens if you get a parking ticket as you journey to find a working meter? Will the kindly traffic agents patiently wait for you to return? Is using time elsewhere aspirational or is it the law?
