Cause of Smell?
This is a photo of the plumbing in my basement before placing the sheetrock. Can anyone tell if anything they see from this photo could be causing a sewer like smell?

Among other things, no standpipe, no trap, no venting… Yuck. I can only imagine what other hidden wonders exist elsewhere in that place.
The people involved in doing that work should have their fingers amputated so they can no longer pollute the world with their ‘skills’. The sad truth today is that for every decent, smart craftsman/contractor out there are now at least 75 imbeciles, give or take. The crap I see more and more of each day is vomit inducing. How do these people sleep at night?
What about a vent, too? Or is that not needed?
Not to mention the PVC trap on the sink. I couldn’t sleep at night.
aside from the missing trap on the washing machine drain, it liiks like some water damage on the sheetrock and serious mold growth on the back.
Well yeah, you can see part of the trap for the sink remaining but the washing machine drain doesn’t have one at all.
I actually do have a sink attached and it does have a u shaped bend under the sink. I will post an additional photo of it.
To answer your question:
If a sink would be in place there would or should be a trap on the drain line. The trap is the u shaped bend under a sink. It serves several purposes but I suppose the main function of this is that it holds water in it which acts as a barrier to keep sewer gases from entering the living space.

Wow!
No trap on your washing machine drain (or lavatory basin drain for that matter). That’s where your stinky sewer smell is coming from.
