Alternatives to Stainless Steel

Thanks
It seems that the SS haters can’t actually propose an alternative though. And I’m not talking a red $8,000 Vulcan range. What would you install in a moderate to moderately high wend kitchen??? White??? FAIL.
And to get a nice look by covering your refrigerator with your cabinet panelling you gotta go Sub Zero or it looks like crap.
bfarwell…boil a pot of water on a white top and you never see the “spray” but it’s all over the black. yes, it’s there on both but only the black actiually reflects it. You got to see it to believe it.
If you’re talking about actual spills, they’re both pretty much equal.
Same with painting a black car. The black will show any imperfection that most other colors will not.
All I know is that SS appliances are part of the HGTV formula and that suggests the end is neigh. “Cherry” colored cabinets, granite countertops, and spread some stainless around, that’s the formula. As soon as it’s everywhere it starts to look cheap. To me it rings similar to “real estate prices will never fall.” I don’t have to know how or why, but there’s something new coming and it doesn’t include a giant SS box of a fridge.
DIBS- how does a black cooktop show more stuff than white?
People make the claim that stainless steel is on its way out, but I just don’t see anything to back this up. first of all, it will never go out of style as restaurants will continue to use them. Second, I think white appliances can look very jarring next to dark cabinetry, which is what I have. And, having had a black stove, it is very true that there is a great deal of upkeep to make it look clean. so, unless you’re going to make the splurge to have custom panels made for the d/w and fridge, I think stainless is the way to go.
Stainless steel is the ‘safe’ way to go as they have the widest appeal. Black and white will work as well assuming it fits with the other decor. Although, white has a stigma of being old or blah.
The other option is custom covers matching your cabinetry or a specific design pattern. More expensive.
Try searching for an Andigas cooktop..it comes with removable glass panel covers. I had one many years ago and really loved it.
stainless steel is definitely trendy. wish i could afford the colored enamel but alas just a union worker.
we went with white (bosch/fisherpaykel). Bosch makes a nice white/ss combo range that we got. The white FP fridge looks plenty sophisticated, if I do say so myself. The range hood is SS, though, so there’s some industrial-look accents.
