Toy Shop Suggestions
I would greatly appreciate any suggestions for unique and interesting toy shops in Brooklyn. I am especially interested in handmade wooden toys and miniature items to give to my niece who received a brownstone-style doll house for Christmas. Many thanks!

Hi…..,
Thanks for your suggestions.

If you don’t mind a cruise down Flatbush Ave, try Michele’s. The shop is located at 2090 Flatbush at Ave P. That place is craft central.
I think Lulu’s on 5th Avenue at Bergen is fantastic.
Best I’ve seen in Park Slope, and there are A LOT of toy stores in PS…
There’s also Acorn specializing in handmade toys at 323 Atlantic Ave. Also check out the Brooklyn Flea for vintage doll house people, furniture and accessories.
I second the Museum of the City of New York for it’s famous Stettheimer Dollhouse which is a real inspiration. You may want to make some miniatures yourself.
Thank you all. My niece’s brownstone dollhouse came from http://www.karenairdminiatures.com
Snappy: There’s a dollhouse store located in FAO Schwarz. Also, dollhouse kits available online (both cardboard and wood), as well as plenty of books about how to construct. The Museum of the City of New York has an extensive toy and dollhouse collection: http://bit.ly/edH1c
OP, I wanna know where the brownstone style doll house came from! That sounds neat. My niece is going through her princess phase (she’s 4) and likes to play “princess of the castle.” She’d love that type of doll house and I’d like to send her one.
I hate to break it to you but all of those “small independent toy stores” sell the same stuff.
For unique handcrafted toys, shop on etsy.com.
There’s a toy store on 7th avenue and union that had some lovely wooden toys. Would you know where your niece got her brownstone toyhouse? I’d love to get one for my boys.
