Reclaimed Wood Floor?
We have a few closets (total of around 50-80 sq ft) with just floor boards. We are looking mto cover them with a close proxy to the original 2 1/4″ herringbone wood floors that are installed elsewhere in the house. Any suggestions on where we might find some pieces or suggestions on how to match…
We have a few closets (total of around 50-80 sq ft) with just floor boards. We are looking mto cover them with a close proxy to the original 2 1/4″ herringbone wood floors that are installed elsewhere in the house. Any suggestions on where we might find some pieces or suggestions on how to match the floors? It’s just a closet, so it doesn’t have to be perfect/precise. Wood laminate looked too artificial.
Steve, my bad – I think it’s 1 1/4,” and yes, it is face-nailed. I’m not sure what species the wood is, other than oak. Possibly red oak?
Sorry, I missed the part about the 2 1/4″. I am not sure the stuff I am talking about comes in 2 1/4.” Is the stuff you are referring to tounge and groove or is it face nailed?
Many of the older houses including some up into the 1920’s use the face nailed oak.

Now that I read this post, I am certain we are talking about the same wood: Eastside Flooring on 124 St in the city. Tell them you need “face nailed strip flooring 2″ x 5/16″.”

They specialize in reclaimed wood and will removed nails. Tell them you species and if they have it, a woodworker should be able to cut it down and finish for you.
