Radiator Covers
Anyone have any recs for someone who makes radiator covers. Not looking to go the HD route. We want covers made that blend well in an old home with some period moldings and details. Thanks.

its important that the design of radiator covers take into account the client’s use of the area around the radiator – I’m interested in covers that optimize space utilization, as well as being fine wood work – imagedesignandbuild.com
Hi, I usually display my radiator covers on 7th ave in Park Slope. Check the Brownstoner directory under “radiator covers” for my ad. I come to your home, measure and install.

Having switched over from traditional rads to Runtals in 2 rooms, we actually have 2 radiator covers that we’re looking to part with. If interested, feel free to email brooklynista at yahoo dot com for more details.
Thanks, everyone. Lots of good suggestions.
We used Fichman Furniture too, like Setancre. Took a long time to arrive, two full months, with a very non-informative customer service rep whenever you call to check in, so don’t go with them if you are in a hurry to have covers for this Winter. Also we had major offgassing or outgassing with the paint they use. I’m talking another couple months with them giving off a pretty strong smell. I was glad I ordered the radiator cover for our nursery well in advance of the baby’s arrival. However in the end I’m pleased with the cover. Very well priced and it looks good. Sturdy; both my husband and I have stood on the cover to reach the top of the window to hang window treatments. Lots of custom options as Setancre said. I was concerned when we got it that it would block too much heat because the wood was so sturdy and thick but it not only heats the room fine the room is better heated, seeming to prove what you hear that radiator covers are actually better for heating a room because it sends the heat out the front grates into the room instead of shooting the heat straight up to the ceiling.

We used this company: http://www.woodenradiatorcabinet.com . They came and did all the measurements themselves and then came back a few weeks later to do the installs. The covers look like they have always been in the house. They did an absolutely fantastic job.
We had Fichman Furniture do ours. http://www.fichman.com/
It’s actually a Canadian company based out of Toronto, they custom-make your covers, ship them flat-packed and you put them together in your house. Simple assembly, it was only 4 pieces that need to be put together.
Just make sure you measure carefully if you go this route! Look great and are inexpensive, we were able to have them created for approx $250/cover. They can put as much or little detail into the covers as you like.
Slope, do you have a stand alone or inside a wall kinda ones? You are welcome to drop by and look at a job the guy did in my house. It’s not a flawless job but a pretty good one and it was very cheap. he comes and installs them too.
