Hi!
I frequent a number of Brooklyn blogs and am surprised I haven’t been able to
find any news about this.
I live on Lefferts Ave. and had a friend over last night. We noticed the lights
flickering a lot and, when he went home (to Maple Street), he found out why. He
said that two manhole covers had exploded on Flatbush, there were fire trucks
everywhere, and his building had no power. Turns out a good chunk of Maple Street was left without power until this morning.
I’ve searched everywhere (here, blogs, papers) and haven’t been able to find
anything. Anyone?
Thanks!
There was a mention of it in one of the headlines on this morning’s opening ‘Stoner post.
wtf?!? the same thing happened on carroll and henry yesterday. the explosion was so bad that it burned the heck out of a parked car. like the front was MELTED. no power on the block / traffic lights for most of the morning. what is going on?
I saw ConEd and the police had it blocked off last night around 12:30 – couldn’t drive down the block so didn’t observe any power outages. The blocks on either side were fine.
When I went out for my run this morning I noticed that Maple I was closed off at Flatbush, but that’s all I know.
