We had a chimney service company in the other day to reline with a S.S. liner to replace the damaged clay tile flue for our hot water & steam boiler. They removed the clean-out door and did not replace it, just cemented up the whole boiler room wall. Is is required by NYC code? This is a B’klyn 3 story 6 family house.

  1. I own Innovative Chimney corp. I specialize in building fireplaces and restoring old mantles and chimneys. Stainless steel liners are a great product designed to prevent condensation from damaging chimneys. They have also proven to be effective in preventing flues which have already softened from collapsing and becoming blocked which causes carbon monoxide to spill into the home.
