We have a kitchen that needs more daylight and we are considering our options. We want to maximize daylight but we are also mindful of security issues. The kitchen windows currently have iron bars over windows which we could simply replicate (more windows and more bars). But rather than construct something like that, we are considering incorporating both into an integrated design: the image shows an aspirational goal, not a proposed design.
Question is who would be able to fabricate something like this, which would allow for more light to come in, but would also be secure?
All thoughts are appreciated.
There is also a company in upstate New York that specializes in historic iron windows. I saw them when doing a search on a This Old House listing of historic window specialists. But now I can’t find them.
Hopes Windows have a beautiful product line. Their windows are available in historic square, or custom layouts and are available in steel or bronze :

They are pricey though, I’d anticipate north of a $120 / sq. ft. Hope this is helpful.
