Getting a Stop Sign Installed

Does anyone know how to go about getting this done? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
As smeyer418 alludes to, DOT has established standards for when and where it will install a stop sign, traffic signal, speed hump, etc. DOT will base its decision on whether the intersection meets the applicable standards. I doubt you need to attend a community board meeting to get DOT to look at the situation. Call or e-mail the community board office as indicated above.
Sneak out at 3am with a ladder and install one yourself.
If it looks authentic then I doubt anyone is going to complain.

give Rob Perris a call CB #2 will send you to the traffic committee meeting first.
DOT will do a study and determine if its warranted. they have a traffic “bible” that tells them how much traffic is required.
You may want to bring this up at your next community board meeting. You’re in CB2, so you should probably give them a call at 718.596.5410 to find out where the next meeting is.

Also, if it’s the Heights, the City Council member is probably Steve Levin: http://council.nyc.gov/d33/html/members/home.shtml. I’d reach out to his community affairs person at 718-875-5200.
Thanks for the comments. I find that especially because there are no lights between Clark and Middagh, cars are able to get going pretty fast and try to beat the light at Middagh.
I’d start with the BHA and Steve Levin. However, I’d ask for a stop light, not sign. Hicks is a through street so DOT isn’t likely to agree to a sign. There are no lights between Clark and Middagh, as opposed to the lights on nearly every block in the south heights, so it’s a logical spot.
Start with your community board but any way you go it’ll take a lot of time.
