Doggie Jail

The large gap over the dirt can easily be filled (perhaps anchor a small piece of metal or wood fencing in the dirt, fronted by plants). However, we haven’t come up with an attractive solution to narrow or cover the gap over the cement portion. Can anyone think of any low-cost solutions? We’d like to remove the concrete at some point, but it’s just not in the budget for now. The gap is approximately 5 inches high.
There are panels that are made specifically for this problem. They attach to the bottom of your fence to close the space and match your existing fence. Please feel free to give me a call to discuss your options. I own a fence company. Brooklyn Fence distributors. My name is Don and you can reach me at 718-444-8554. I look forward to hearing from you

How about wooden trellis (really cheap at any store)…buy a 4×8 sheet, cut it to overlap a little.
I would bury a thick wire mesh and then plant a vine over it.
Good luck.
I just use chicken wire, but my backyard literally IS a jail for my dogs AND cats.
You can always get some pieces of 1 x 4 (or whatever size you have there on your fence) and match it to the fence. Paint it the same color. So, all you’re doing is extending the fence.
“Face it, all dogs are assholes and will escape in any way possible.”
That’s funny – and true of ours.
I like the idea of planters and benches – maybe we’ll do a combination of both since the gap goes all the way around the left side as well. I also like the idea of railroad ties.
DIBS, I don’t have any pictures handy, but most of them are of him running away from the camera.
Thanks for all of the suggestions.
How about a bench/planter/storage bench that spans the width of the yard? You could make hinged lids for hiding stuff like gardening tools and bags of charcoal with a planter in between.
Of course, a bench could make a platform so that your pooch could make an easy break OVER the fence if he’s bouncy enough. Face it, all dogs are assholes and will escape in any way possible.
Post some pics of your dog!
I have a similar problem & just put plastic mesh stapled on the wood & then trained ivy to cover it. Planters wouldn’t work for my gaps but they sound like a nice idea & too heavy for a small dog to move.
