I have just replaced my thermostat from what looks like the 50’s. It has two huge mercury tubes in it. How do I safely dispose of it? thx

Call 311 and ask if the Brooklyn Dept of Sanitation Hazardous Waste dropoff is open on Saturday. It’s in Gravesend (after Bensonhurst) on Bay 41st Street (and Gravesend Ave?
In Brooklyn, you have to take it to Dept of Sanitation’s hazardous waste dropoff. They are open most Saturdays and one Friday a week. You can get the location from their website.
