Can Anyone Tell Me Anything?
Can anyone Tell me Anything about this piece? It is about 8’w x 4’H, 1″ thick I think Plexi Glass with Mirrors. Sort of like Stained glass effect, probably backlit at one time.. Any ideas of value? Origin? It has been in the basement of one of my buildings for years!

I dont know if this was machine made, i dont think so, the paint looks hand painted, and the back has hand written numbers where each panel or paint color goes, how can I add a picture of the back to this thread? Thanks for all the input, its interesting… I was told maybe Coney Island, a friend has a similar one showing the Parachute tower from CI in the background?
bxgrl, i searched 1890’s Garb, and u hit it right on!
Does anyone know of someone who deals with this kinda stuff?
It’s well done though. Reminds me of Jahn’s so i agree with IMBY. It could have been done for a theme restaurant. The little girl’s dress is classic 20’s, while the woman is wearing 1890’s garb.
4 feet by 8 feet? One inch thick? No wonder it’s been there for years. It must weight a ton. Looks like something from the backbar of one of those national chain ice creme shoppes that were popular in the 70’s. The one’s that made their employees dress victorian and wear fake handle bar mustaches. You would order their giant massive sundae and they would ring a bell and shoot off flares in order to make a big hub bub.
I have to agree with Bob. The came and glass looks like 70s/80 vintage and the panel itself looks mass produced, like the stained glass light catchers they sell on QVC.
This looks like the sort of faux Victorian stuff that was popular in the late ’60s–early 70s when the Brownstone revival/Back to the City Movement was young. I still have my plexiglass “Tiffany” dragonfly dome light, that I bought in 1972, stashed in my cellar.
IT makes me feel old to see it treated as an antique. I’m sorry I don’t have any idea of the value.
