Does anyone know by nyc code what type of sheetrock needs to be used to build the walls of a boiler room. We just gutted everything in a 100year colonial style house and the boiler room had sometype of metallic plating for the ceiling, a metal door, but regular plaster type walls.

cmu, It is only at three or four families that they start to care about the boiler room enclosure.
Is that true for a 2-family? Or greater?
You usually need a two hour rated wall with a 1 1/2 hour rated fire proof self closing doors which will mean two layers of sheetrock on both sides totaling four layers with the spcecifications be done according to code or MEA / BSA / OTCR approval.The ceiling must be 1 hour rated.
