Hi, We’re wondering the ballpark cost for a four-family building to update the electricals. We need to: -Increase power entering the building. – Install separate meters and disconnect breakers for each apartment in the basement. Any help is appreciated!

I rewired three floors plus a cellar in September and it cost me $15,000 plus $2,000 for the plaster. I used WCK in Bed Stuy and I highly recommend them. They are fast and reasonably priced. The owner Paul is always available to handle problems and is extremely nice. They didn’t break any medallions and they left the tin ceiling intact while doing everything to code with cable to every outlet. It was filed and approved.
and since this is a capital improvement, there should be no tax charged… all you need to do is provide the contractor a certificate of capital improvement.
I hired a licensed electrician to rewire 2 floors of my property and it cost me $20K. No kidding.
I used GTS Electric to do the same type of work on my 6 unit. They are very reasonable, reliable and do excellent work. You will be very happy with their work and their price. I don’t want to quote price because each job is different but you might be looking somewhere in the 4-5K range (maybe). if you want their info let me know.
