Where can I find an absolutely plain coir door mat in New York City? I thought these were standard hardware store items. But if anyone has them at all, they are decorated with elves and curliques. I do like the one pictured from Williams Sonoma but it’s $40 to $120. For a door mat! Aren’t these basic items that should cost $10 or so?

  1. You can find them at the hardware store on Court Street around the corner from the Municipal building that houses the DOB. I can’t remember the name, there are two hardware stores next to each other, it’s the one that has the second floor.
I got one there about a year ago for $10-$15.

  2. i just bought a plain one for like 5 bux at that discount variety store on 5th ave and i think like 8th or 9th street in park slope

  3. I had the same problem and like sourgrapes said they were at IKEA the whole time. Mine are still going strong after a couple of years hard use, too.
