Best Fish Store in Brooklyn
I want to cook fish once in a while. Which store is the best ( = freshest and reasonable priced) fish store in Brooklyn?

are you really that satified with Chinatown fish? place I have bought has been disappointment. (on Grand St.corner christie)…I think many vendors buy the leftover less desired catch.
Fishtales I’ve never been disappointed with.
The fish concession inside the otherwise awful Western Beef supermarket on Empire Blvd in PLG is very good and remarkably inexpensive. There’s a parking lot and you pay at the fish counter, so you can avoid Western Beef’s chaotic check out lines.
I hate to be so negative about Western Beef, but it’s one of my pet peeves. With a little work that store could be really good, but the management doesn’t seem to care. That’s not a reason to avoid tyhe separate fish concession.
Chinatown is absolutely the best for lobsters. Turnover of all fish in Chinatown is much faster, hence fresher fish.
Fish tales makes a fantastic gumbo that they also sell. On a Saturday you better reserve your sashimi grade tuna, it goes fast.
Also, I’ve had BAD experiences at Union Market.
I agree with Fish Tales and Fairway. Fairway always has items on special that are a good buy–like the cheap lobsters they had all summer.
Pathmark on 11th & 3rd is pretty good.
DeMartino on Douglas is excellent.
Chinatown for lobsters, etc.
I actually like the fish at Fairway. I smidge pricey, but good.
Brooklyn’s a big place. You can always go and buy off the fishing boats in Sheepshead Bay. In Park Slope, i like the guy on 7th Ave and 5th Street
Fish Tales on Court St.
