Argh! Water main leak!
Our water main is leaking (lead from the 1930s), and we need to get it replaced. Any suggestions on who is reputable and reasonably priced? Our house inspector missed both the leak and the lead before we purchased (as well as 3 rotten beams in the cellar! Thanks to all in advance.

I just had mine done in april 09. Had Pete from Liberty Water and Sewer LLC. $4200.00 much cheaper than Figlioia. Had to have it done quick because of city citation.

Mr Joist, hope you been saving up. To my surprise, there might’ve a house that cleared for under $1M in the Park Slope zone we agreed on for the $1k wager (just waiting for it to show up on acris).

1) The city water main was not on my side of the street (so more digging and copper pipe); and
2) I asked for a wider pipe (1†versus standard 3/4†so I could have better water pressure…you should too).

The price was $2600. I also had gotten a second estimate from another contractor (whose name I forget). My recollection was that the second estimate was in the $3,500 to $4,500 range.
