hey wine lover – not sure if this is the right place to post but i saw an old post from you regarding a new construction condo where your inspector pointed out an issue with the floors and you got it fixed. i’m about go to in contract to a new condo and i have questions about the floors as well and i’m looking for inspector recommendations. would you be able to give me the name and number of the inspector you used? thanks..
Why are you people calling them “sharpies?” There’s an assumption on your part from facts which are not in evidence. I’ve always called them generically “markers.”
Nothing to do on a Saturday morning!
I would go with the magic eraser.. But not if the floor was stained..
Goof off should take it off without harming the floor finish (provided the finish is oil base). If it is a water base finish, the goof off will soften the finish and the marker color will mix in with it – so be careful.
if you use toothepaste or any other compounds, use a little water and rub gently lest you dull the finish.

Also try the Magic Eraser, or the generics. It has removed permanent sharpie marker for me before (from a variety of surfaces). Don’t know how those things work but they have saved my darling children more than once…
oh just the marks bobjohn. fond of both kid and neighbor!
do you want to remove the kid or the neighbor or the floor? 🙂
just a light wipe with an alcohol swab will take a sharpie right off
Toothpaste brushed on & let set for a few minutes is supposed to work. (Not gel, though, just paste.)
