I have a DWR upholstered couch with cushions that have a couple tears and need mending. I’ve spoken to reweavers and they cannot fix–they suggested a tailor. Anyone have a great one, who speaks English, who will put the proper time into repairing these (I don’t want a hack job done). Thanks!

  1. These are tears that cannot be mended by reweaving, because of the type of tears they are. So the best I can do is a patch/machine stitch. Thanks for the suggestions–will check out those spots in Manhattan.

  2. If a couple of stitches have come out of the seam (not a tear in the fabric) any tailor at any drycleaner could handle this for $20. If it’s a tear in the fabric, you need a reweaver. Doesn’t sound like it is.

  3. If you do want to stay local, I go to Paramount Tailors, second floor, Livingston betw. Nevins and Bond. They’re not chatty, so asking them questions first may not be that satisfying, but they’re good and happen to be inexpensive. That said, I haven’t done any wovens with them.

  4. try meurice in midtown. have had great experiences with them. they aren’t cheap but will fix everything and you won’t notice that it ever was ripped

  5. does it have to be local? if it’s a DWR couch then it’s probably worth going somewhere top notch. i’ve had very positive experiences at Hong Kong Tailor Jack on Gay Street in the village.
