We need to deal with a set of old oil tanks in our cellar. Does anyone know what the requirements are to meet compliance with the FDNY so we can have our fuel oil storage permit voided? I have heard tell that you can seal your tanks in place of having them cut up and hauled away. True? I believe we need to provide an affidavit prior to inspection, but wonder if we have any options beyond total removal.
I used Evertight Tank not too long ago. Good guys, very cheerful and did the job right.
I had an old oil tank unused (have always used gas) when moved into house 25 years ago and just had it removed. Didn’t do any permits or affidavits. Cost me $500.
We used Petroleum Tank Cleaners (718-624-4842) last year to have our 2 tanks removed. It cost less than $1,500, took a few hours, the guys were very nice and the office provided an affidavit for the FDNY. It was a relatively painless process and we recommend them.
