Hello,
No it is not a wrestling match! We have just last week closed on a brownstone home- we are looking for a cooling unit and have heard about both Mr.Slim and Fujitsu. Anyone have any experience or recomendation about one of these systems as opposed to a traditional vented system??? HELP! thanks.

  1. We have used Sanyo units, both single and multi. We’ve gotten away from the heat pump models because we have high efficiency gas heat/DHW.

Most important to consider is placement on interior walls. if you have a path for condensate down to basement, this can potentially cool a lrger space from its center, rather than an end.

  2. Mitsubishi is the state of the art. I would recommend the their City-Multi system if you’re doing the full house. Its the big brother of Mr. Slim. City-Multi can handle more zones, and has a greater variety of indoor units so you are not limited to the wall / ceiling surface mounted variety. I just put this system in and used Best Air Conditioning. Jimmy Wong and his crew did a very professional, reasonably priced job; his cell number is 917-742-2596.

  3. The “green thing” to do is not intall ac at all. Drink some cold ice tea if you’re hot.

Screw CFCs. They threaten the survival of the human race.

  4. We installed the mitsubishi Mr. Slim last year thruout the whole house–7 units. During the winter, we used them to supplement heat. This summer has been fabulous with them–and our electric bills stayed the same as having window units. A lot more a/c for the same con ed bill.

We used IceAge Mechanical (Victor@iceagemechanical.net) in Brooklyn, and can’t recommend them enough. They’ve installed this in 2 more houses on my block, and a friend’s house elsewhere.
