Roof work during this rain?

Has anyone gotten any roof work done during this unusually rainy season? Just curious how much the attributing my roof guy has given to it for putting us off for so long is the case across the board for roof renovations. I’m hearing stories from friends elsewhere that rain hasn’t stopped it like it’s stopping us, but they’re in the suburbs, and not in brownstones. Still, I’m a tad concerned we’ve got a less than realistically aggressive contractor.
Thanks,
I just had a folllow up visit from our roofer to check a leak. He made the same comment, that he hasn’t been able to get anything done for the past month or so. He has a good rep on the forum, so I tend to believe him.
The weather over the last two months has indeed pushed back roofing jobs. My company just finished a store on Orchard Street in the LES that involved a 20′ skylight and the roofing around it. It really killed our schedule.
It is obviously dangerous to work on a wet roof, as the edges are where a lot of the more finicky work has to get done. Also, it is important the substrate under the new roofing material is dry. The new roofing material is (I guess obviously) waterproof, and will trap any moisture underneath it with nowhere to go, which will of course cause problems. (Another reason venting the airspace under the roof is important.)
On top of all of that, or because of it, you are probably also seeing the result of a significant backlog of roofing work that was scheduled for June but could not be done.
Good luck and lets hope this latest weather holds!

We went through the same thing last year when we hired our roofers. We had weeks of rain on end and they kept having to put off the job. Do you have a flat or pitched shingled roof? That could be part of the reason as well.
