We are going to have someone strip and repaint our stoop. We’ve seen his work in the nabe and he does a very nice job. We are buying the supplies and he has requested Rock Miracle Paint stripper. I know it works great but I also know that it’s quite toxic. Rock Miracle makes a”safer” product
MC Free Paint and Varnish Remover
Methylene Chloride Free – does anyone have experience with either of these products? Recommendations? Thanks.

  1. My experience is that the non methylene chloride products (with the exception of Peelaway 1) work fine, but more slowly. I suspect your man would charge more if you insisted on mc-free stripper. Toxicity won’t be an issue for you as he’ll be working outside. Now, the effects on the environment are another matter and up to your conscience, esp. if it rains in the middle of the job.
