Honest Exterminator, Take II

See below. I tried calling Bob Gargano as vinca recommended, and got no response (maybe he’s away). Any other recs, folks? We have some ant activity in an area that might possibly be carpenter ants. I am looking for an exterminator who will give me an honest assessment of our situation and treat and charge accordingly.

Someone recommended Orkin to me (rec came from an inspector I know), but I just had a frustrating conversation with Orkin’s sales folks about pricing — worried about a bit of bait and switch and overselling on the need for follow up treatments.

Anyone have good or bad things to say about Orkin? Any other recs?

  2. I’ve always use and recommend Ed Defraidas with Empire Pest (718-237-0989) on Court St. He’s helped with both common and exotic issues…I had one tenant accidently bring in Moroccan moths in a box of couscous! He’s also dealt with carpenter bees and common waterbugs for me.

    Vinca, I’ve left several messages since Friday. My guess is he’s out of town.

    I found an old reference from Donatella on this site. She highly recommended Guido Amati of Bravo exterminating and I just spoke with him on the phone and he sounds quite decent. I will try him first.
