Last winter I had Fred from Rumba Air install split-system A/C throughout our brownstone. However now that summer is here the A/C isn’t working right.
I don’t want to point any fingers. I think Fred and his crew did a great job, but sometimes things just don’t work right the first time.
Anyway, I’m in a bit of a pickle. I have no way of getting in touch with Rumba Air. Both of the phone numbers I had are now disconnected and his e-mail is now bouncing.
Has anyone here heard from Fred recently?
A follow up on my previous comment. As part of a gut renovation of a loft, Rumba was hired by a general contractor for the AC work. They did a terrific job but the GC stiffed them (and us) and as a result, Rumba was owed a substantial amount of money. Last week, Fred and I sat down for an hour long conversation about how to resolve this matter and I’m confident that we’ll be able to do so in a way that will be satisfactory to both of us. He’s a thoroughly responsible and dedicated contractor and I would hire him again in a minute if the opportunity arose.
Does anyone know if Fred simply works for Rumba or if he’s a principal or owner? If he simply works for them, who is the owner?
Just following up – Fred came in and fixed the issue as soon as we got back from our July 4 vacation – one of the pipes has a pinhole leak and the system wasn’t remaining pressurized. He replaced the broken section and everything is running great now.
Let me re-iterate, I’m very happy with the work he and his crew have done, and feel terrible that his phone number change led me to doubt him.

Yep. I got in touch with him and he came the next day.
Despite the problem we are currently having, he is the best contractor we worked with throughout our entire renovation. If only all the other guys were as diligent as Fred & his crew.
