Hey all:

I posted this in the morning and it didn’t show up, maybe it got cleaned out with the spam so if you actually answered it, sorry…

Anyway we’ve had this house now for a year and a half and still no water bill.

How long does it take for the first one? I’d hate to get a four figure bill at some point.

Comments

  1. DEP was mailing the bill to my old address. Took me 2 billing cycles to finally clear up the address but they still haven’t fix my last name! I just gave up.

  2. I filled out the change in ownership form and sent it in twice when we decided to self-manange our co-op and they still didn’t send me a bill. I finally ended up calling and hemming and hawing with their rep until they agreed to add me as an interested party to receive a copy of the bills. Go figure.

  3. We hadn’t received a water bill in 4 years because DEP had our old address on file. Call and make sure they have your proper address.

  4. Denton, glad it worked, and too bad with the results. No free lunch, no free water. No invoice, no problem…City might even prefer the extra revenue (or the tax lien down the road). Glad you were able to log on, though. Make sure you note your account number before calling. Forgot to mention, but you probably noticed: if you pull the water menu down before clicking go, there’s an option for accessing the account’s history.

  5. Hey vinca:

It was a server issue, I owe $600 + with a $44 late charge! And I’ve yet to get a single bill. I guess I’ll call and see if I can at least get out of the late charge.

  6. I’m glad you reposted – I answered this morning and then was thinking, am I crazy? I did post, right??

It took the city six months to bill us – we closed in October and got our first water bill the following April.

Did you fill out the transfer form at closing? If not, the FAQs on the link below have a downloadable Customer Registration Form. Once that’s in the system, the DEP and its billing department will catch up with you.

  7. Hey vinca:

THanks, that seems the way to go. But when I put in BBL, it drops two leading zeros in front of both numbers, then after a long search, says ‘BBL not found’.

Wouldn’t that be sweet? Free water?

Based on the long search, I wonder if there isn’t a systems issue. I’ll try again later.

  8. Denton, go to this link: http://nycserv.nyc.gov/NYCServWeb/NYCSERVMain
Scroll down to “Water Charges” and click “go.” The link used to be a bit of a
Catch-22 because you had to know your account number to access the information. But recently they’ve enabled a search by block and lot number.
You’ll be able to review the history of payments for your account. Maybe you’re not getting a bill because they’ve been rolled into your mortgage payments.
