Stripping facade paint
Wondering if someone can suggest the best way to strip chipping paint from our brownstone facade. I would like to do the work myself and have experience with various strippers but only with woodwork. Any suggestions?

Can you let me know which company does this? And what would be a fair price?
Thx

Yes, vinca, the amount of pressure is key.
Generally speaking, most advice runs against powerwashing and sandblasting.
That said, I had a portion of my rear facade powerwashed at low pressure prior to repointing, and left the patchwork remainder of old paint covering rear facade as is. More info at: http://www.nps.gov/history/hps/tps/briefs/brief01.htm

I just had this done. They applied two coats over the course of a week or so and then powerwashed. I’ll find out what kind they used but I’m pretty sure he said that it MUST be water based or it’ll hurt the stone.
