Hi
I know there are previous posts on this, but I was hoping for a more recent perspective and additional recommendations. I have a small bathroom 4×7 that needs a gut reno. I have most of my fixtures/materials picked out but need assistance with the following:
1. any good sources for modern, clean lined bathroom vanities that won’t break that bank? I’d love a glossy white one … online or showroom recommendations welcome …
2. How long should the process take from start to finish?
3. Can you recommend a contractor who can do a solid job (the wall tile I have picked out is a tad complicated, but the rest of the reno should be straightforward — oh I am replacing the tiny tub with a walk in shower…)
4. My budget is around 10k, doable?
Thanks in advance
I think 10k will be required for both materials and labour cost.
My husband remodeled our small bathroom by himself. It took him a month; some contractors gave us 2 weeks estimate(including demolition).
All material including tiles (floor + walls) + toilet + glass vanity + shower cabin was total $6000

Regarding to clean line of vanities I love this line: http://www.all-bathroom-vanities.com/dosiva.html
Greenwoody,
I’m also looking for a reputable tile guy to do the floor in my bathroom. Did you decide to go with the recommendation from this exchange? Would love to know if it worked out-
thanks
One of the least expensive, yet immediately saves you money, home improvements is a bathroom bidet sprayer. The ultimate bathroom retreat is not complete without a bidet or better yet….the hand bathroom bidet sprayer. The hand sprayer gives you superior control and water volume and if the bathroom was not designed to allow for a bidet(the majority of them) it offers the convenience of installation on the existing toilet AND you don’t have to get up and move every time! You will pay for it many times over in toilet paper savings. Available at http://www.bathroomsprayers.com.
You should be fine greenwoody, I was…My best friend had that done. Removed tub, installed shower base and stand up shower. Oleg did a great job. Again, if you decide on hiring him, shoot me an email and I’ll arrange for you to look at the finished job at my friends place.
yes, I’m not sure how removing a tub affects plumbing? shower head stays in the same spot, as does drain in the floor …
I never moved plumbing and never filed and many people do it without filing. Not sure if it’s the legal way to do things but I did it :o).
are you really replacing a bathtub with a walk in shower without moving any plumbing?
thanks all …
what needs filing with the DOB if I am not moving any plumbing?
thanks
