I received a bid on a 3-family, 3,000-sq-ft building with three apartments, each with a bath and a kitchen. The rewire doesn’t include meters. Is this expensive? Thanks..

  1. That sounds awesome. I received a bid of $25,000 from an unlicensed and somewhat inexperienced electrician on a two-family (three stories) that needs a new box and new wiring on every floor.

Who’s the electrician? Are they licensed? I want to use them.

  2. I think it sounds reasonable. We paid about 13,000 for a two-family rewire in 2006, and our neighbors just had a similar job done with the some company and said prices were up somewhat because of the price of materials, etc.

  3. We upgraded the apartments in a five family building in 2007 and paid $21,000, so, it may be a little bit high, but in the ball park. Get a few estimates. When we upgraded the meters and service in the basement a few years prior to upgrading the apartments, we paid $5,500.
