Can any landlords recommend any particular agent or company to deal with in listing your apartment for rent? I’m going out of town for a couple of weeks so want a broker to handle showing the place while I’m gone – have had bad experiences with most (usually I just use craigslist and show it myself but I can’t field all the traffic for the next few weeks), so hopefully a recommendation through brownstoner will steer me to someone motivated and professional who can get the place rented. If you are in or near Cobble Hill try Alan Gerovitz 718-935-6122. He talks too much but for the past 11 years he has consistently brought good, reliable tenants, never a problem.
Depends on where you live. I would say go to a long-time licensed broker with a storefront in your area.
There are many unlicensed brokers on Craigslist who will try to scam you. They don’t check references. They don’t use contracts. They turn off potentially good tenants. Stay away from them.
