Follow-up on gas rates
If you sign on for fixed-rate from Gateway, you’re essentially buying futures. Their offer is 89.9 cents per therm for a one year & 95.2 for a 2-yr commitment. My current rate is 1.03 & the high for the last year was in July – 1.61. The low was Oct. at 99.5. Haven’t decided yet.

not exactly future – it does not protect you from rate going down. Also since most people are smart enough to not play on the deriv. market, why would you engage in this though the fixed gas price?
National Grid just dropped their price to $0.44361 for the month of May… One would have to expect massive volatility to justify 0.952.
