is 180 – 200 a point installation high? To my husband he is outraged says its insane. He also wants $800 to pull out all the electrical cables and re-hook them up again.(we have major beam problems) I just need to know if he is higj or is that within reason. Any help would be appreciated.

  1. Newbie here so i apologise in advance for any confusion! I know nothing about wiring but i have found diagrams etc online to look at and come to some assumptions…..

I have a tokai ‘springy sound’ electric guitar that all seems to be wired fine and has a ground wire from the bridge to the pots. So i am assuming here that the electric guitar is not a problem.

The amplifiers (one a large monitor amp and the other a small practice amp) give an awful hum and lots of ‘snap crackle and pop’ noises when my guitar is plugged in. One amplifier is a 15 watt guitar that has been electrically tested and yet creates all this noise. The large monitor also gives the same amount of noise.

  2. I have not done it but I’ve done a lot of reading on it, and I am budgeting $200 a point for an old house where each wire will have to be fished through small holes in the wall. Not a gut job.

Of course I’d be thrilled if I could find someone to do it for less.

Cookie, a point just means an outlet or lighting fixture or appliance or whatever — where the electrical wire ends. (And what it powers.)
