Electrician A/C Bid
I’m having ductless A/C installed and just had an electrician come in and give a bid that was surprisingly high. $3,500 for wiring 6 blowers and 2 condenser units. All are hung on one outside wall of my semi-attached. Is this a realistic bid?

I’m an electrician. Without seeing the job I could’t tell you how much I would charge but it is a fair amount of work that has to be done right for the system to perform.
cmu- I don’t know your electrical experience and I’m not trying to insult you but I’ve never seen an “included wiring harness” and I’ve installed all the major brands of these units. The only reason I point that out is that your giving advise as far as the fairness of the price without (it seems) the knowlege of what needs to be done.
I thought the inside units were powered by the included wiring harness, so hardly any work is involved? If so, it’s just the power to the 2 outside units? That seems high.
So, you are having 2 outside condenser units installed, each leading to three inside blowers? That’s got to be a fair bit of electrical work. I assume you are using 220V. Do they have to go far to get it? $3,500 does sound like alot for electrical, but you sound like you have a big project. Get another quote and see. This doesn’t include the actual installation, right, just the electrical?
