Sagging door frames
If the structural issues of a sagging brownstone have been fixed, can the crooked door frames be fixed to be straight without major demo, or do you have to live with them? Anyone dealt with this issue?

I was able to “cheat” a little bit on our front door frame. I pried off the face molding, cut the biscuit joints holding the top and sides together, and re-mitered the angles a little bit. I lost about 1/2″ in height, but the door still closes, and it doesn’t look quite so out of whack.
I think to do every door the correct way would be a major, major undertaking. You’d have to remove all the molding, pull off the frame, shim it square, then put everything back together…but someone else may know another way.
Annoying, isn’t it? I’ve learned to live with this kind of thing.
If your floors and ceilings are now level and it’s really bothering you, you pretty much have to redo the doors. I’d start with the molding first and see if you can live with that. To me, the molding is the most noticeable.
No, it’s not major demo. Just really, really tedious to go around and do it to every door in the house.
