Repairing basement floor
The concrete floor in our basement is fracturing and flaking up – not a huge deal, but if we don’t fix it now before we move in and fill it with junk, we’ll never fix it. Has anyone done a concrete overlay to repair this kind of spalling?

I am not a concrete person but having managed these kinds of projects, I have had contractors correct rough concrete on steps and walks. They use a concrete modified with something – a fibre or plastic. The amoung of material they will have to spread will be a 1/2″ thick, minimum – so you need that much working space over what is there. The overall surface this is going over must be solid as this material in itself will not correct structural problems with the concrete.
The cost? A lot less than breaking up and repouring a floor.
