Seriously, I think you have to make your own job in the New Economy. (The new, post-job economy.) If I get laid off I am thinking a food-related business….

No. If they ignored you the first time, it can’t hurt to bother them again. The worst they could do is continue to ignore you. I learned this during periodic periods of unemployment, when I made the same mistake (more than once, probably).
