Will do…it’s an interesting subject and I’m curious myself to hear my Mom’s thoughts. I’ll let you know. I can say that I attended garde school at P.S. 273 in ENY from 1969 to 1975 and every one of my teachers was a white Jewish woman age 25-50. Many of my classmates were Jewish kids, too. I didn’t think much of it – that’s just the way it was then.
bxgrl: “But i admit to a certain embarrassment to think liberals formed the core of neoconservatism”
There was an old saying on the right that “a neoconservative is a liberal mugged by reality,” like the Black Power movement, Soviet aggression, and un-American hippies. Irving Kristol, father of the NY Times columnist, was a former Trotskyist. To make a vast overgeneralization, both neocons and liberals think that government can be used to reshape societies for the better (Iraq, American cities, etc.). One group is more competent at that task than the other!
ENY: Looks like we posted our comments at the same time. That’s a great story about your mom and dad! Let’s hear some more when you get a chance.
I grew up in a great mixed neighborhood too, ENY. I think I’m the better for it.
garde = grade
Perhaps I need a refresher course.

Maybe, but I’ve been called childish many times. 🙂
