Can I install window bars Inside the window frame?
Aside from that and a security system and other ideas to increase safety?
Make sure that the board won’t allow decorative wrought iron grilles on the outside.THese are quite lovely, they don’t have to be “bars”.
If not change windows to laminated glass windows, not tempered. Laminated is more burglar proof and provides great sound barrier; if it is a triple glazed all the better, only one layer need be laminate glass.
12 gauge if a man, 20 gauge or 440 if a woman.
If you install bars make sure you can open them in case of fire.
You could also look into replacing the glass with tempered glass. There are even security films that make breaking thru the glass very difficult. 3M makes some.
This is a security issue for you. And I think a lot of people would feel uncomfortable with a master bedroom window at street level. Poor planning to put it in the noisiest location. Unless you really love it, I’d pass unless the condo is willing to do something for you.
