Is anyone aware of a supply business, probably in Manhattan, but who knows, who might have bought up the tables of a French-ish restaurant; one of those round metal/iron based, stone-topped tables one assiciates with French cafes and restaurants? Thanks.

  1. I have considered that, BH76, because I already have the cast iron base! Only reason why I’m stalling on that solution is because I prefer that the tabletop have the stainless steel edge banding that a classic bistro table should have. Not a single stone fabricator I’ve talked to about this is prepared to add the metal banding. One place said they could outsource a laminated tabletop for banding but warned me that I would have to buy way more metal than is needed just to get a little bit of banding. At this point, if I can’t find the ready-made marble top, with stainless banding, in the size I’m looking for then, yes, it’s off to the stoneyard for a marble remnant. Not unless someone comes up with a source here that can make this a whole lot easier. 🙂

Mrs. Limestone: love the group purchase idea!

  2. If you’re only looking for a 24″ top, French General Store can work. Same with Butler and the Chef. They specialize in marvelous enamel tables. But most are only 24″ — which I take 20″-24″, more or less to be the standard size. Butler and Chef does carry larger marble top tables, from time to time, apparently the time for that is not now. And that’s my problem: I’m looking for something a tad larger, 27″ up to 30.” Sigh. If size is not such an important issue to you, I’ve also occasionally, I’ve seen some on eBay.

  3. There is an online resource called French General Store and a San Francisco-based bistro table place online called something “Chef.” Sorry I can’t remember exact name. But I broke down and ordered from TK Collections. Wish I could have been in on the group purchase!

  4. Im looking for one too! Ive seen them online but they are so heavy, the shipping is insane and makes it not worth it.

Maybe if you find someone getting rid of a bunch, we can do a group sale?
