We are in the midst of using Soxco for our stair work and Antoon is just fabulous. He and his team have been thoroughly professional and helpful.
We are actually getting our stairs redone in advance of full construction on our upper floors because the stairs were in poor shape before, and we were worried about more damage.
Although our upper flight of treads had to be replaced, he was able to restore our lower flight which is in walnut, and it is just wonderful to step on them now.
Highly recommend Soxco! Now let’s see how the rest of our renovation goes!
Ibm is correct: Antoon is a good guy. Somewhat pricey though. But you get what you pay for, and in my opinion, stairs are not something to cut corners on – I’m not cheap either, but do the job right. If you’d like to compare our “uncheap” prices, im at smdconstruction@gmail.com
soxco was one of the top contractors by far in our renovation project. we did a stair repair/restoration using salvaged materials from another house, which turned out great. other stair contractors were reluctant to do anything but build from scratch. the workers were clean, honest, and courteous, and they required very little management. true, soxco is more expensive than others, but you get what you pay for.
Soxco rebuilt and restored our two flights of old pine stairs in our brownstone. They did a fantastic job.
No one else wanted to restore the stairs. Other companies wanted to tear out the treads and put in new ones. The only other company that was interested in restoring them, aside from Soxco was Heights Woodworking and they were way too expensive and I found them off-putting. Antoon, Soxco’s owner is a dream to work with and is very honest.
