I have begun renovating my kitchen which has a very ornate plasterwork ceiling and a large medalion that thanks to a horrid electrician now sits shattered. I want to restore my cieling to its original glory but I am at a loss as to where to look for a restorer of plasterwork and mouldings. Any suggestions would be great.

  1. Hi there,

My husband would be happy to arrange an appointment and give an estimate. He’s specialized in plaster.

Here are 2 reccomendations of him here on the forum, we have more references for plaster mouldings as well.

  2. Ksquared, please do post Kevin Perez’ contact information! Years ago, I had the most fantastic painter/plasterer do work in my house. His name was Kevin Perez. The contact number I used to have for him is no longer any good. If this is the same Kevin Perez I used to know, I would most definitely want to reconnect with him. His work is superb. Thanks!

  3. Kevin Perez did the on-site plaster work for the TOH house. He’s awesome. Try to look him up or I’ll post his number later when I can find it.

  4. Felber Ornamental Plaster does a great line of medallions. We bought 3 from them a few years back. Google them. If you need a specialist restorer, they mention in the This Old House episode descriptions of the Prospect Heights renovation, a Red Hook-based plaster contractor called Stuart Sobczynski who is recreating mouldings for the house.
