I’m in Brooklyn, but would be willing to travel to another borough, LI or NJ if necessary. Want to compare high end models to mid range … have done a lot of online research but really want to see these things in person. Any suggestions?
Drimmer’s
1608 Coney Island Avenue
(718) 338-3500
The showroom is not particularly swanky, but they have absolutely the best prices and they go from mid-range to high end. THE BEST.
I second the recommendation to buy appliances at J&R in Park Slope.
I bought a washer, dryer, over-range microwave, and A/C from them last summer and the customer service and prices were great. They even came to my apartment for free and took measurements to make sure the appliances would fit perfectly, and they did. Their installation is reasonable too and well done.
P.C. Richards/Atlantic Ave. was fine for me. Nice sales people, helpful.
I like PC Richards in downtown Brooklyn. Had a really good experience buying a really expensive washer/dryer there.
EBA on Nostrand Avenue.
Strangely, I posted this twice yesterday, but it never showed up.
I’d reccomend purchasing from pc richards as well.
we recently purchased 4 items from top of the range electrolux
unfortunately we didn’t measure the size of the apartment door…..the fridge wouldn’t fit.
PC Richards were great, 5-10 minute phone call with the salesman had the fridge back on the truck and a smaller model fridage delivered less than 24 hours later.
no additional charge for second delivery etc just the price difference between two models.
I’ll be buying my appliances from them again in the future.
Cheers,
Dean
PCR may be good in Astoria if donatella says so, but I’d avoid the one in downtown Brooklyn like the plague…
Go to PC Richards in Astoria. It is great — first, PC Richards is a good store anyway in general – good service, merchandise and prices. And in Astoria, there is huge amount of merchandise on the floor. It is a very big store with an enormous showroom. Two years ago I bought a large amount of stuff for my building with the help of a great guy, Mohammed. He was excellent, had an encyclopedic knowledge of models, costs, etc. and he actually talked me out of buying some stuff. .
If you are really willing to travel, then definitely check out Karl’s Appliances in NJ. They have several locations but we specifically dealt with Dino at the designer showroom in Orange. We bought both our dw and fridge from them, nabbing a really good deal with great customer service in the process. Couldn’t be happier. http://www.karlsappliance.com
At the same time, we’ve also heard good things about Liebert’s Royal Green long before this story appeared in today’s NYT: http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9A07EFDE1131F937A35756C0A961958260
By all means, if in your research you have yet to discover the Appliance forum at Gardenweb.com, then do so ASAP. There’s a wealth of info there, including solid recs and about any and all appliances and the best places to buy them, including the two I just mentioned and(others).
